I have had some request for some updated house pictures. I have been holding out posting pictures of the house simply for the reason is we don’t feel it is “done”. But we are living in it and it looks so much better than it did. You should check out the older posts we have made of the house to get a feel for all the work we have done … scroll down to see the older posts.
Our front yard has gotten a lot of work. We have had some trees removed, flower beds cleaned out, and we started painting the shutters from white to black. White shutters on a white house just did not seem to make sense and we think the house looks so much better with the black shutters. We have both sides of the house to paint the shutters on, 16 more shutters … hopefully we will be able to do that soon. We are now working on making the yard look better by treating the grass for weeds and bugs. It is a large yard and takes a lot of time, but it is coming along.
Here is the Family Room. Scott handmade a shelf to put on top of the mantle so we could have cubbies for our cable box and stuff. He did a great job and it looks really nice. You can see the front door and entry way to the right of the room. The kitchen is to the left (there are not any pictures of the kitchen because it is horrible … pictures will be posted of that when we remodel it, someday).
This is the sunroom/playroom. It is the length of the back of the house with windows everywhere. It is a shame to have to clutter this room with toys, but it is so nice to have such a large space to put their stuff so it is not all over the house. The sunroom is right off the family room (in the above picture, I am standing in the sunroom, taking a picture of the family room).
Here is the Formal Living Room. We still have some stuff to do, such as hang pictures and get an area rug. The room is so large that it echoes throughout the house … we need a rug really bad. This room is in the front of the house, directly to the right of the front door/entryway.
The Dining Room is a step up from the living room, on the corner front of the house. There is a doorway that leads to the kitchen (again, no pictures). Excuse the blue mat on the ground, that is to keep Riley’s mess off my hardwood floors.
Here is Reagan’s room, which she absolutely loves. Her room sits in the front left of the house. The previous owner’s of this house left behind their master bedroom furniture. We painted it from pea green to Cinderella blue and decorated her room around that. We found this really cute quilt and she just loves her room. Her bed is a queen size bed, turned sideways, to fit up against a king size headboard (which you can’t see because of her pillows). It was a great idea to turn the bed sideways, it gives her so much more room in her large bedroom. We still have a few things to do to her walls, but it is coming along.
Here is Riley’s green room as she tells you that it is her green room. It is on the left side of the house, between the girls bathroom (which is next to Reagan’s room) and the Master bedroom. She inherited Reagan’s old bed and quilt, which works out great since she is a monkey lover. She sleeps very well in her new big girl bed and does not give us much trouble with getting out when she is not supposed to. We still have not hung her decorations up, but someday we will get to it.
The Master bedroom is hard to take pictures of, as are all the rooms. But for some reason, these pictures just don’t do the room any good. We decided to move the computer from the playroom into our room, which makes it a little bit more crowded, but it worked out better for the playroom.
So, there is our house as of right now. I hope you enjoyed the tour. It looks so much better in person, so you should come for a visit to see for yourself!
