While most people probably went shopping the day after Christmas, we went to the Tampa Zoo. It was our first visit to the local zoo and we had a great time. We got there right after the zoo had opened, so the animals were all active and happy. Riley’s favorite animal was the Elephant, Reagan’s favorite was the Giraffe and Zebra. Mom and Dad’s favorite was by far the Chimpanzee, as he was not a happy camper and was screaming and running around his cage. It was so cool to watch him. He would start screaming, hit the wall, and take off running. Of course, we only got a piece of it on video. They must be like kids and stop performing when they see a camera. Watch the video at the bottom though, it is really cool!

Merry Christmas from the Posti Family!

Christmas morning almost started at 4:00am, when Reagan came running in our room “Santa has come!”. OH NO! Go back to bed please. So we got her back in bed and they both slept until about 7:00. They were so excited to see the tree with all the presents, yet they were patient enough to listen to the letters that were left for us by Santa and Ralph, our elf.

Then the gift opening started. Riley got lots of baby stuff, including a nursery set, a stroller, and a new baby. Reagan got her Nintendo DS she has been asking for since last year, along with lots of stuff to go with it. They both seemed very pleased with everything they got and have stayed busy playing with it all since.

Later on, the girls helped Daddy set up his new golf net from Santa. They had a lot of fun hitting golf balls into it. Reagan is working on her swing … she is pretty darn good!

Christmas Eve 2009

Twas the night before Christmas and all excited are we …
Christmas Eve we get to open one present, which is our new pajamas for Christmas night. The girls were so excited to put on the pj’s, put out food for the reindeer, cookies & milk for Santa, and read “Twas the Night Before Christmas”.

 

 

Then there is Ralph, our Elf on the Shelf. He was with us since Thanksgiving, watching the girls behavior and reporting to Santa every night. Each morning, when the girls woke up, Ralph was hiding in a new spot. It was so fun for the girls to find him each morning. Christmas Eve was our last night with Ralph, as he goes back to the North Pole with Santa. We will see him again next year though!

We took the girls to ICE at Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, Florida. We were prepared for a cold experience and brought our hats and gloves and scarves to keep us warm. They provide you with parkas and you enter into a tent where they have ice sculptures, and they keep the area at a cold 9 degrees! Poor Riley was so cold, she could not stop shivering. We were in there for about 20 minutes, long enough to get really cold. It was really neat to see though. They even had a slide carved out of the ice, and both girls went down. Riley was reluctant, but as we walked off, she said she wanted to do it, and she had a blast sliding. Other than the slide, Riley did not have a good time. I think she was frozen in a trance the entire 20 minutes. Reagan enjoyed it, just said it was way to cold. We tried to explain to her that some people live in weather like that, but I don’t think she believes us.

After ICE, we took the girls on a surprise visit to the most magical place on earth … DISNEY WORLD! We only stayed about six hours, just long enough to ride a handful of rides and see the Osborne Light Spectacular at Universal Studios. It was really cool. They had every inch of the buildings covered in lights, which were synchronized to music. They even made it snow, and luckily it was cold enough that the snow at least made it to the people before melting. They girls thought it was so neat. Riley had fun at her first Disney experience. Her favorite ride was by far was It’s A Small World. She is overly obsessed with babies, and kept saying, “Look at the babies! They are talking!”

And of course, what is a Posti trip to Disney without a ride on the Tea Cups. For those of you who know me, know that I do not like this ride. I get motion sickness just riding in a car, and this ride kills me. But I was a trooper, once again for the family, and rode along to take a video of Riley’s first Tea Cup ride. I was a little worried about her, I think she may have started to pass out! She got off and said she wanted to do it again … I nixed that idea though. Watch the video, it is so funny to watch Riley's face. She seems happy, then looks passed out, then happy again. When the ride abruptly stops, her face is priceless, and you can sort of see her eyes still spinning!
